historoo vs Better History

Checked 26 October 2026. We make historoo, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.

Better History and historoo both make browser history more useful, but they do different jobs. Better History is a better way to manage Chrome’s own history. historoo is a way to find things by what you saw.

historoo isn’t connected to Better History (betterhistory.io) in any way. We looked at its website and Chrome Web Store listing to write this.

Where Better History is stronger

Because it works on Chrome’s own history, Better History is useful the minute you install it: everything Chrome has kept is there. It’s a strong tool for cleaning up. You can delete by day, hour, site or keyword, keep some sites out of Chrome’s history entirely, and have old history deleted automatically. If you need your history in a spreadsheet, its CSV export does that, and it’s available in many more languages than historoo.

Where historoo is stronger

Better History, like Chrome, knows page titles and addresses. historoo also saves the things on the page that you actually looked at: pictures, videos with their captions, and headlines. It reads what each picture shows on your own computer, so you can search for “red car” or “latte art” and get back the picture and the page it was on. You can also right-click any picture on the web and ask “Where have I seen this?”.

With Pro, historoo keeps your history as long as you like, syncs it between your computers through your own Google Drive, encrypted so only you can read it, and lets you search it on historoo.com. Pro is free while historoo is in beta.

Privacy

Both extensions say they keep your history on your computer. historoo has no analytics and no ads, and your history never reaches our server, so there’s nothing for us to sell or hand over. Its privacy policy sets out exactly what an account holds (your email and settings) and what it never holds.
