How to keep your Chrome history for longer than 3 months

Checked 26 October 2026. We make historoo, so weigh what we say about it accordingly.

Browser history stops after about 3 months. historoo Pro keeps going for as long as you choose.

Chrome keeps your browsing history for about 3 months, then deletes it. There’s no setting to make it keep more. If you want older history, you need something to keep a copy. Here are the options.

1. Google My Activity

If you’re signed in to Chrome with sync on, and Web & App Activity is set to include Chrome history, Google keeps a record in My Activity. You choose how long, in its auto-delete settings. It’s built in, but it means your browsing history is kept on Google’s servers, in your account.

2. An extension that copies Chrome’s history

History Trends Unlimited is a free extension that regularly copies Chrome’s history into its own database on your computer, so it isn’t lost after 3 months. It also shows charts of your browsing. It searches by page title and address, like Chrome does.

3. Export it yourself

Extensions such as Better History can export Chrome’s history as a CSV file. Do it every couple of months and you’ll have a permanent record you can search in a spreadsheet. It works, but you have to remember to do it.

4. historoo Pro

historoo keeps its own record as you browse: every page by title and address, plus the pictures, videos and headlines you looked at, searchable by what they show. Free keeps the last 7 days. Pro keeps it as long as you choose, from 30 days to forever, and is free during the beta.

Pro can also keep the same history on all your computers. Each one encrypts what it saved with a passphrase only you know, and sends it to your own Google Drive. It never goes through our server, and we can’t read it. historoo starts saving when you install it, so it can’t bring back history Chrome has already deleted.

How much space does it take?

Page titles and addresses take very little. Pictures take more: with historoo, a year of browsing is about 2 to 3 GB, and you can keep pictures for less time than pages if you like.

Keep what you’ve seen for as long as you like

historoo Pro is free during the beta. Your history stays on your computer, or in your own encrypted storage.
