About historoo
historoo is a Chrome extension that remembers what you actually saw online, not just page titles, so you can find it again.
Who makes it
historoo is made by James McLaren. It’s run by one person, who also answers your email and is responsible for protecting your personal information. historoo is the trading name.
Why it exists
In James’s words: “I kept forgetting where I’d seen things online, so I built historoo to find them again.”
How it treats your history
- It stays on your computer. historoo saves what you see on your own computer, and works out what each picture shows there too. It sends nothing about what you browse, search or save to us.
- Sync goes to your own Google Drive. With Pro, your history is encrypted first, with a passphrase only you know, and synced through your own Google Drive, never through our servers.
- Free keeps the last 7 days, with no account. Pro keeps history for as long as you choose. During the beta, Pro is free with a historoo account.
